I was out in AB last weekend to ride the new road course at Castrol Speedway outside of Leduc. It is a pretty slick track (literally when wet apparently) and a much more technical course than Gimli. Not as fast for top speed but a lot of turns including a banked corner and chicane to break up what would otherwise be a long straight.
Saturday practice was good, especially when the sun came out in the afternoon and track was dry. Sunday in the rain was a different story... the track was like ice with DOT's, pretty much everybody ran full rains (which I didn't have) so I ended up sitting out because I felt I was a hazard more than anything.
Here is a video of my second time on the track during Saturday practice to give you an idea of the layout. We ran clockwise, and the track entry is right at the right hand side of the picture coming onto that short straight.
