Andrew Nickel Memorial Endurance Race – General Rules and Guidelines
Team rider event – Ride your own bike
When: MRA Round 4 - Saturday August 11th
Race length – 1.5 Hours / 90 minutes
Most laps performed win
Race Start Time – 3:15 PM
Endurance Race participant MANDATORY riders meeting will be conducted @ 12:00 PM in the concession area on Saturday.
Cash Prizes and Awards
Thanks to the generosity of Andrews’s wife, Annette, we will be offering cash prizes for ALL competitors that finish on the podium.
Endurance Race Cash Awards:
1st Place Team - $150.00 for each team rider
2nd Place Team - $100.00 for each team rider
3rd Place Team - $75.00 for each team rider
Each rider on the winning team will also receive a personalized winner’s plaque to be presented at the clubs annual general windup meeting and event.
General Event Regulations, Rules and Penalties:
Bike & Team Requirements:
• The MRA Executive has created a handicap scoring system that creates a level field for all race teams and competitor regardless of bike displacement.
• Teams that do not enter a Thunder class bike will have laps deducted from their final overall total to compensate.
• This means that both two and three rider teams are now open to compete with any class of bike of their choice. Teams that want to race 2 or 3 Thunder Class bikes are welcomed.
• Example – A two rider team can compete with two Supersport or two Superbikes, or a mix of both. No Thunder Class bike would be required.
• All riders / participants MUST have a transponder mounted on their bikes at all times.
• Every rider / bike must be identified by a separate transponder. (Rental units available)
• 2-rider/bike team
2-Rider Teams - Each rider must log a minimum of 2 track sessions in conjunction with a minimum recorded total combined track time of 30 mins.
• 3-rider/bike team
3-Rider Teams - Each rider must log a minimum of 2 track sessions in conjunction with a minimum recorded total combined track time of 20 mins.
Tech Inspection -
All Endurance Bikes MUST pass Race Tech Inspection (lock-wired, belly pan, etc.)
Helmets -
• All race participants MUST have a Helmet that meets all current CMA minimum standards and certifications. All Endurance Race participants will require a helmet inspection prior to the start of the race event. Helmets MUST be brought to the Endurance Race Rider Meeting.
• Helmets that do NOT meet the CMA regulations will NOT be allowed on the track and may result in rider disqualification. (Snell 2010, ECE 22.05, BS 6658, etc.)
Endurance Race Team Pit location -
• Team riders & bikes will set up their respective pit areas along the Armco in the Pit Lane area located on the South Side of the facility.
• Teams will NOT be allowed to pit in the Hot Chute.
• Teams must make their own arrangements for the supply of suitable electrical power to facilitate the use of tire warmers.
• Only team riders and one mechanic / support individual per participant will be allowed.
• No spectators allowed in the pit area!
• All team must have a minimum of one fire extinguisher in their immediate pit area.
Endurance Race Start –
• All teams will grid on the Main Straight as per a pre-determined / assigned grid position as per normal MRA race start procedure.
Team Rider Handoff and changeover -
• Riders exiting the track will follow the designated cone course to the Endurance Race pit area as described below.
• Upon entering, the incoming rider will perform a full stop in a designated stop box. Once the rider has safely stopped, his partner can proceed to the Hot Chute via the designated cone course and proceed down the Hot Chute at a speed not to exceed 80kph or roughly 3rd gear @ 5,000rpm.
• There will be a designated Pit Official that will monitor each riders and teams adherence to the rider changeover process.
• Failure to comply with the team rider handoff / changeover process as defined above will result in the team being assessed a one (1) lap penalty for each occurrence upon the completion of the event.
Endurance Race Track Entrance –
• All riders will enter the track via the Hot Chute as per normal practice and procedure.
• There will be a MAXIMUM Hot Chute Speed Limit of 80 Kms per hour. This translates roughly to 3rd gear @ 5,000rpm.
• The hot chute will not be monitored via a radar gun, riders are expected to follow the honour system.
Hot Chute Excessive speed penalty -
• Any rider that is excessively speeding in the Hot Shute will be assessed a one (1) lap penalty against his teams overall lap total upon completion of the race.
• The excess Hot Chute speed penalty will be assessed at one lap, per team, PER OCCURRENCE.
