Andrew Nickel Memorial Weekend and Endurance Race
MRA August Round 4 Event Update
The MRA Executive is dedicating the August weekend round to honor our friend and fellow racer, Andrew Nickel.
To commemorate Andrews recent passing and to celebrate his many years as an active club member and one of the clubs top competitors, we will be scheduling some special events and activities for the MRA Round 4 weekend, Saturday, Aug. 12th and Sunday, Aug. 13th.
One of the main events planned for the Round 4 weekend will be the Andrew Nickel Memorial Endurance Race.
This special race event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12th.
Please see the attached General Rules, Guidelines, and Rider Eligibility for more information regarding the Endurance Race.
We will also be conducting a group rider parade lap in honor of Andrew and encourage the participation from all riders that are in attendance on Saturday.
Immediately following the group parade lap we will be conducting a group photo shoot for all riders that will help commemorate the event.
In addition to the above, we will also be holding the MRA Annual BBQ that will be open to all Racers, Track Day riders, spouses, family and friends who are in attendance on Saturday.
Hamburgers, Hot Dogs will be provided.
Please bring your own beverages.
Andrew’s wife Annette and family will be in attendance on the weekend so let’s get as many of the past and current riders out to help share in the weekend’s activities.

Andrew Nickel Memorial Endurance Race
Team rider event – Ride your own bike – Transponder switch in the hot chute with teammate
When: MRA Round 4 - Saturday August 12th
Race length – 1.5 Hours / 90 minuets
Most laps performed wins
Prize – Awesome Andrew Nickel Memorial Endurance Race Trophy with the names of the winning riders engraved on the trophy – This will be an annual event with the trophy passing to the next winning team.
Rules:
- 2-rider/bike team
One bike must be a Canadian Thunder Class bike
- 3-rider/bike team
One bike must be a Canadian Thunder class race bike
One bike must be a 600 Supersport class race bike*
*note - A Canadian Thunder class bike can be substituted for a 600 class bike = 2 Thunder Class bikes
- Endurance Bikes MUST pass Race Tech Inspection (lock-wired, belly pan, etc.)
General Event Guidelines:
Team riders & bikes will pit in the Hot Chute (Use of tire warmers permitted in the hot chute)
Only team riders will be allowed in the Hot Chute (No spectators, mechanics or family allowed)
Transponder switch with team rider will be performed in the Hot Chute lane.
Fuel containers must be stored on the pit side of the Armco (fuel containers NOT allowed in the hot chute)
2-Rider Teams - Each rider must log a minimum of 2 track sessions in conjunction with a minimum recorded total combined track time of 30 mins.
3-Rider Teams - Each rider must log a minimum of 2 track sessions in conjunction with a minimum recorded total combined track time of 20 mins.
No passing in the hot chute – One lap penalty will be assessed
Hot chute entrance and exit will be speed controlled via cone intervention
Safety cones lanes will be set up along the hot chute to control rider speed
Hitting a safety cone on entrance, exit or while travelling through the hot chute safety cone course will result in a one-lap penalty being assessed to the team. (Per occurrence)
Event Registration, Participation and Eligibility:
Only current and previous MRA racers are eligible (excludes Sportsman riders)
All race participants MUST have a 2017’ MRA membership to be eligible.
All race participants MUST have a 2017’ CMA Competition membership & license # to be eligible. (Insurance requirement)
Track day riders that have not previously competed in an MRA Expert or Novice competition event will not be allowed to participate.
Registration Fees:
Entry Fee - $50.00 per rider
MRA Track Improvement Fee applied to all riders that have registered for any race or track-day event for the August Round 4 weekend as per current practice.
Riders choosing to register only for the Saturday Endurance Race will be required to pay the mandatory Track Improvement Fee.
The MRA annual summer BBQ will kick-off Saturday following the completion of the Endurance race.
Free admission to all Trackday riders, Race participants, MRA Staff, family and friends!
