Licencing Bike

Hi everyone! I'm looking to do my first track day this summer. It has been something I've wanted to get into for a long time, however finding the info I need has proven difficult. I currently ride a very big bike but would love to pick up a little 300 for the track. Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but do track only bikes need to be licenced? Is there a special type of licencing? I ask because I would find it difficult justifying paying for another bike with the mpi insurance prices.

I'll try to squeeze this last question in as well...I'm 6'5" and finding it almost impossible to find a track suit, any tall guys out there have any recommendations on brands/models?
